SPHP Employees Kayak to Raise Funds for Breast Cancer Research

On September 17, Saint Peter’s Health Partners colleagues spent time kayaking on the Hudson River for a great cause.

Thirty-five staff members attended the third annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer kayaking event, which was organized by Anne Lawton, community relations liaison at St. Peter’s Hospital Cancer Care Center. The group met at Peebles Island State Park and launched kayaks into the Hudson River. The kayaks and equipment were provided by Upstate Kayaks.

Participants spent two hours on the water enjoying the beautiful weather, time with co-workers and friends, and spotting bald eagles. The event raised $620 for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, which will be used by the American Cancer Society to conduct breast cancer research, provide 24/7 support and information, and promote patient education, prevention, and early detection.
