When a cancer diagnosis is delivered, the individual receiving it often hears nothing but “I have cancer.” Words like these can be overwhelming, but preparing for what comes next can make all the difference.

Duncan Savage, M.D., chief of radiation oncology at St. Peter’s Hospital, appeared on WAMC’s Medical Monday where he discussed targeted cancer treatments, HPV-related cancers in both men and women, and how radiation works to kill cancer cells.

Some patients may be better served receiving radiation treatments in the prone position (lying face down) when they receive radiation to their breast tissue.
