Albany Business Review: Cardiology Associates of Schenectady Joining St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates

The Albany Business Review published an article detailing Cardiology Associates of Schenectady’s letter of intent to join St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates (SPHPMA), effective January 1, 2021.

From the story:

Throughout the next few months, SPHPMA and CAS said they will work together to ensure a smooth transition. Current patients of CAS will still have the option to continue to receive care at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam and Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville.

SPHP said a plan is underway to launch walk-in clinics at several locations, where patients with non-life-threatening symptoms can be seen that same day, similar to an urgent care setting. Patients with chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath or rapid heart rate would be evaluated, and board-certified cardiologists would work with referring physicians to develop a plan for treatment that is suited to meet the patient’s individual needs.

This type of care is in alignment with CAS’s involvement in community-based population health management efforts, in association with the work of the Innovative Health Alliance of NY and the Alliance for Better Health. Both organizations work with networks of providers to redesign health care with the goal of improving outcomes and lowering costs.
