WRGB: First baby of 2025 arrives in Albany just after midnight at St. Peter’s Hospital

The Capital Region welcomed its first baby of 2025 at St. Peter’s Hospital, just 20 seconds after the clock struck midnight.

Rob and Kate M. from Saratoga County are the proud new parents of Liam, who weighed in at 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 19 inches long. Liam is their first child.

Kim Baker, senior vice president of hospital operations said, “Each of the thousands of babies born each year at St. Peter’s Hospital have a unique story to tell. This little miracle – and the arrival of so many other babies today – are a collective symbol of hope and better days ahead.”

St. Peter’s Health Partners is renowned for its leadership in women’s healthcare. It was the first hospital in the Capital Region to earn the prestigious “Baby-Friendly” hospital designation, a global initiative by the World Health Organization and United Nations Children’s Fund.

In 2023, St. Peter’s Hospital was recognized on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals. It has also received national accolades, including Magnet Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for excellence in nursing.
