Students from the Colonie Head Start program generously donated 10 gift baskets to patients of the St. Peter’s Hospital Cancer Care Center.

The students, who are as young as four years old, filled the baskets with candy, puzzle books, warm socks, and other items. Included in each basket was a handmade card with the message: “You are worthy of a beautiful life.”

Colonie Head Start teacher Stephanie Siciliano delivered the baskets to the hospital on November 9. She said her students, many of whom live in poverty, were impassioned by the project and very proud of the finished baskets.

“These wonderful, thoughtful baskets were so meaningful and special to our patients,” said Anne Lawton, RN, community liaison for St. Peter’s Hospital Cancer Care Center. “We are very thankful to the amazing students at the Colonie Head Start program for their thoughtfulness and generosity.”
