Darlene Hoffman, FNP-BC, MS, of Troy Internal Medicine, a practice of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates, has been named Family Nurse Practitioner of the Year by the Capital Chapter of the Nurse Practitioner Association New York State.
The award, presented to Hoffman on June 15, is reserved for experienced nurse practitioners who have contributed to, advanced, and promoted their profession through excellence in practice, education, or research, as well as those who improve the health of the region through volunteering or community service.
In nominating Hoffman for the award, a colleague wrote:
“Darlene is one of the most compassionate and empathetic providers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She looks at each patient as an individual, no matter what or how many life situations they may have. Despite the various social, psychological, and/or financial issues a patient may have, she goes above and beyond the expected amount of care for her patients … With all of the wonderful work that Darlene has done for our community and patients over the years, I could not think of a better or more deserving nurse practitioner to receive the recognition.”
Hoffman has worked as a nurse practitioner at Troy Internal Medicine since 2001. Prior to that, she worked as a staff nurse in Women’s and Children’s Services at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. She received a nursing degree from the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, and her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from The Sage Colleges.
Outside of the office, Hoffman has volunteered at the Roarke Center in Troy and the Cancer Services Program of Albany and Rensselaer Counties, providing clinical breast exams and other screenings at women’s health clinics. She has also volunteered at Joseph’s House and Shelter in Troy, and is active with the Nurse Practitioner Association New York State as well as the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Please help us congratulate Darlene on this great achievement!
