Dr. Ishna Sharma Joins St. Peter’s Health Partners Bariatric and Metabolic Care
Ishna Sharma, M.D.
St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates is pleased to welcome Ishna Sharma, M.D., to St. Peter’s Health Partners Bariatric and Metabolic Care.
Board-certified in general surgery and fellowship-trained at the highly regarded Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Sharma practices bariatric and minimally invasive surgery.
In addition to bariatric and metabolic surgery, Dr. Sharma’s professional interests include foregut surgery, general surgery, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and robotic surgery.
She is one of only fifteen surgeons in the U.S. to have completed the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Advanced Robotics Training Fellowship. She is also the creator and host of the Mayo Clinic Talks Podcast: Obesity Edition series, which explores the multidisciplinary current day management of the chronic disease of obesity. It is available to Spotify, Apple, and Google podcasts and is also available for CME credit for healthcare providers.
Dr. Sharma additionally has authored many contributions to academic medical research, including eighteen peer-reviewed publications, four award-winning podium presentations, and three textbook chapters.
Dr. Sharma received her medical and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Miami in Florida. She completed a residency at the University of Connecticut.
