Look TV: Zika Virus

The flu season is well underway, with the CDC announcing last week the strains of influenza seen so far have been well matched by this year’s vaccine. That is great news and should motivate those who have NOT yet gotten the vaccine to do so ASAP!

Arthur Gran, M.D., of Troy Infectious Disease, a practice of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates, appeared on WNYT to answer questions about COVID-19. Dr. Gran explained the difference between coronavirus and flu, and discussed how the illnesses are transmitted.

As a result of the declaration by the New York State Health Commissioner that the flu is now prevalent in certain communities, visitation guidelines are being implemented at several regional hospitals, including all SPHP acute care hospitals, to further protect patients from influenza and other infectious diseases.
