WNYT: Walk to Strike Out ALS

Karen Spinelli, operations manager for St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center, appeared on WNYT/NewsChannel 13 as part of its special coverage in advance of the Walk to Strike Out ALS on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

In addition to interviews with Spinelli, the coverage included interviews with a patient of the St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center who shared her story — from early symptoms and diagnosis, to treatment and difficulties in dealing with the progression of the fatal disease.

From the report:

Snyder was diagnosed with ALS in August 2021. A doctor gave her three to five years to live.

JoAnne and her husband, John, didn’t know much about the disease when she was diagnosed. Now, they are telling their story, while giving praise to the St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center ahead of the Walk to Strike Out ALS.

They’re hoping to raise awareness of this deadly disease with no cure.
