WTEN recently welcomed Dr. Jonas Wilson-Leedy of St. Peter’s OB/GYN to the studio to discuss endometriosis. More than 6.5 million women in the United States have endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside of the uterus.
From the story:
The diagnosis can often be delayed because many women will present symptoms that mimic other conditions. Symptoms can include:
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Most noticeable during the menstrual cycle, during or after intercourse, or when going to the bathroom
- Heavy bleeding during periods or between periods
- Trouble getting pregnant
- Bloating or nausea
- Fatigue
- Depression or anxiety
