Capital District Colon & Rectal Surgery Associates Joins SPHPMA
Capital District Colon & Rectal Surgery Associates and its team of experienced surgeons have joined St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates (SPHPMA).
First established in Albany nearly 30 years ago, the practice features fellowship-trained surgeons Gennaro Daniels, M.D.; Garner Johnson, M.D., FACS, FASCRS; Brian Steckel, M.D.; and Nora Yip, M.D., FACS, FASCRS. The four physicians provide expert surgical care for a wide range of diseases and disorders of the small intestines, colon, rectum, and anus, including cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, hemorrhoids, and other related conditions.

The four surgeons have a long history with St. Peter’s Health Partners, having practiced exclusively at St. Peter’s Hospital and at Samaritan Hospital’s campuses, including Albany Memorial, where Dr. Daniels has served as Chief of Surgery and Treasurer of the Staff. All surgeons are board-certified and specialize in both open and minimally invasive surgical management of a vast range of colon and rectal conditions, including constipation, hemorrhoids, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, polyps, colon cancer, rectal cancer, and many others.
