Dr. Anastasios Konstantakos Joins Albany Cardiothoracic Surgeons

Anastasios Konstantakos, M.D., FACS

Experienced cardiothoracic surgeon Anastasios Konstantakos, M.D., FACS, has joined Albany Cardiothoracic Surgeons (ACTS), a practice of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates.

Board-certified in both surgery and cardiothoracic surgery, Dr. Konstantakos practices all aspects of adult cardiac surgery. He brings with him more than 15 years of surgical experience in cardiothoracic surgery, most recently serving as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Mass General Brigham in Boston.

Dr. Konstantakos received his medical degree from the University of Miami in Florida. He completed a residency in general surgery at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio; a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston; and a fellowship and staff position in advanced adult cardiac surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

His professional interests include coronary bypass grafting; valve repair and replacement; aortic repair and replacement surgery; minimally invasive cardiac surgery; surgery for cardiac arrhythmias; transcutaneous valve therapy; and mechanical cardiac support.

ACTS is the Capital Region’s oldest heart surgery practice dedicated to cardiothoracic surgery. Founded in 1955, ACTS has a long tradition of working as a coordinated team to provide expert, high quality, compassionate cardiothoracic surgical care. It has been the exclusive provider of cardiac surgery at St. Peter’s Hospital.

In addition to Dr. Konstantakos, the cardiothoracic team at ACTS includes Sulaiman Hasan, M.D.; Stephanie Helmer, M.D.; and Soon Park, M.D. The team performs both minimally invasive surgeries and the most complex and difficult surgeries using the latest and most advanced techniques, with surgical results surpassing both state and national standards.
