St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates Welcomes Dr. Steven Shamosh

Steven Shamosh, MD, FACP, has joined St. Peter’s Primary Care Malta, a practice of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates, where he practices primary care medicine.

Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Shamosh has more than 25 years of experience as a physician both in the office and in a hospital critical care setting. He currently practices primary care medicine.

A Fellow and Laureate of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Shamosh has provided primary care to adults across the northern Adirondack region for many years. He enjoys practicing internal medicine which allows him to treat patients across a wide spectrum of health conditions while also providing preventative care.

Dr. Shamosh places great emphasis on taking time with each one of his patients to listen to their concerns and conduct a thorough physical examination. He believes this focus helps him diagnose and treat his patients without the need for extraneous imaging and laboratory tests.

Before becoming a physician, his first career was as a physicist in New York City where he taught courses in physics, biochemistry, and physiology.

As part of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Shamosh has been a member of the Ethics and Professionalism Committee as well as the New York chapter of the Health and Public Policy Committee.

He has made significant contributions to the field of medicine through his work as an early advocator for the use of naloxone (a life-saving medication given after a drug overdose) and more recently with his work integrating behavioral health and psychiatry into primary care.

Dr. Shamosh received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed a residency at Yale School of Medicine.
