St. Peter’s Vascular Associates Welcomes Dr. John Byrne
John Byrne, M.D.
John Byrne, M.D., MCh, FRCSI, EBSQ-VASC, has joined St. Peter’s Vascular Associates, a practice of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates.
A vascular surgeon with more than two decades of experience, Dr. Byrne specializes in open and endovascular surgery. His professional interests include carotid endarterectomy; open and endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms and peripheral arterial disease; wound healing; arteriovenous access procedures; and open and endovenous management of varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency.
Dr. Byrne was previously a consultant vascular surgeon and honorary lecturer at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff from 1999-2003, and an attending vascular surgeon at Albany Med Vascular Surgery, practicing at Glens Falls Hospital and Saratoga Hospital from 2003-2023.
Dr. Byrne received his medical degree from University College Dublin. He did his residency training at University College Hospital, Galway, in Ireland and the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, in the United Kingdom. He completed a research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and completed clinical vascular surgery training at Albany Medical Center and the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
He obtained his fellowship in general and vascular surgery from the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland and received his fellowship in vascular surgery from the European Board of Surgery.
