St. Peter’s Health Partners will host free educational seminars, titled “Weight Loss Surgery: Take the First Step.”
Free and open to the public, the program is intended for patients, their family members and loved ones, and others who are concerned about weight loss issues. The next program will take place

The distinguished speaker will be: Samuel Hykin, M.D., a bariatric and general surgeon with Samaritan Hospital Bariatric and Metabolic Care, a practice of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates.
Dr. Hykin will discuss aspects of weight loss surgery including who may be a candidate for surgery, how patients who choose weight loss surgery can lose up to 70 percent of excess weight, what types of surgical procedures are available, and the risks involved. Weight loss surgery is known to improve or resolve more than 30 obesity-related conditions, including Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
