Dr. Samuel Hykin to Discuss Bariatric Surgery at January Seminars

St. Peter’s Health Partners will hold free educational seminars, titled “Weight Loss Surgery: Take the First Step.”

The distinguished speaker is Samuel Hykin, M.D., a bariatric and general surgeon with Samaritan Hospital Bariatric and Metabolic Care,  a practice of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates.

Free and open to the public, the program is for prospective patients, family members and loved ones, and others with concerns about weight loss. Upcoming programs are:

During the seminar, Dr. Hykin will discuss various aspects of weight loss surgery. He will explain who may be a candidate for surgery, how patients can lose up to 70 percent of excess weight, what types of surgical procedures are available, and the risks involved. Weight loss surgery is known to improve or resolve more than 30 obesity-related conditions. These conditions include Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
