Volunteer with the Sexual Assault and Crime Victims Assistance Program

Are you interested in giving back and helping to support survivors of crime? Consider volunteering with The Sexual Assault and Crime Victims Assistance Program (SACVAP). The next training begins on October 1.

SACVAP relies on volunteers to help provide services on our 24-hour crisis hotline. To become a volunteer, you must complete a free training which will prepare you to support survivors of crime and sexual assault. After completion of the training, students become NYS Department of Health Certified Sexual Assault Counselors and take shifts on our 24-hour crisis hotline, providing emotional support, information and referrals, active listening, crisis intervention, and medical and legal accompaniments.

As a hotline volunteer with our agency, you will help victims and secondary victims regain control of their lives. Volunteers help to respond to calls on our 24-hour hotline and meet survivors at local hospitals following a violent crime.
