NewsChannel 13: New St. Mary’s Cancer Treatment Center Opens

Although women still account for 99 percent of new breast cancer diagnoses in the United States, the American Cancer Society reports that about 2,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in men in 2016.

The two men first met when Donnie Tessitore, nursing director for cardiovascular services at St. Peter’s Hospital, offered to help Nicholas Farruggio with his bags. Nick was entering St. Peter’s for the first of what would be several stays as he received in-patient treatment for cancer.

Any defect in the skin – whether from trauma, heat, or skin puncture – can be an entryway for pathogens. For individuals suffering from lymphedema, the risk of infection is even greater.
