Samaritan Hospital & B95.5 FM Honored by New York State Broadcasters Association
Samaritan Hospital and Albany Broadcasting radio station WYJB 95.5 FM were recognized recently by the New York State Broadcasters Association with a “Serving New York Award” for their partnership on the annual “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” event. Walk A Mile is an annual community march held in April in observance of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The event raises funds and awareness against rape and sexual violence. Walkers, especially men, are challenged to literally walk a mile in women’s high-heeled shoes in support of what victims go through. About 500 walkers of all ages turn out to support the event, raising tens of thousands of dollars to benefit outreach and prevention programs.
