WTEN: Alcohol and Cancer

Joanne Favuzza, DO, colorectal surgeon with Capital District Colon & Rectal Surgery Associates, part of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates, appeared on WTEN to discuss the link between alcohol consumption and cancer.

A new report from the US Surgeon General states that regular consumption of alcohol can increase the risk of developing at least seven types of cancers, including breast, liver, and colon and rectum.

Dr. Favuzza discussed what makes alcohol so damaging to the body and how it could be linked to an increase rate of colorectal cancer in younger people.
