WTEN: Ballston Spa Mom Loses Son to Son to Drug Called Kratom, Pushes for Ban

Dr. Angad Madan, medical director for St. Peter’s Addiction Recovery Center (SPARC), discussed the dangers of a drug called kratom, during an interview on WTEN/News10.

His comments followed an interview with a Ballston Spa woman who says kratom was to blame for her son’s death.

From the report:

However, doctors like Angad Madan said he sees addiction cases of kratom very frequently, and he’s been sounding the alarm.

“It gets a pass because its marketed as a herbal remedy but it is a drug of misuse. It is a dangerous drug just like cocaine or meth,” said Dr. Madan, medical director of St. Peter’s Addiction Recovery Center.

Kratom is a plant from southeast Asia. It can come in pills, teas and even seltzers that can all be bought in your local gas station stores or online.
