St. Peter’s Vascular Associates, a member of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates, has become the only accredited Vein Center in the Capital Region.
Practice locations in Troy and Clifton Park were granted Vein Center accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in the area of Superficial Venous Treatment and Management.
More than half of Americans aged 50 and older are affected by varicose veins. Varicose veins occur when the valves in the leg veins no longer function properly, causing blood to pool in the legs. In some cases, this condition progresses to a more serious form of venous disease called chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), which can cause swelling, skin color changes, or ulcers on the legs.
“We specialize in the evaluation and management of vein disorders, offering early intervention and the latest technologies for the best outcomes,” said Kathleen Ozsvath, M.D., St. Peter’s Vascular Associates. “When patients are looking to relieve symptoms ranging from pain, itching, and swelling to open venous ulceration, our team is highly skilled in both non-surgical, endovenous, and surgical treatments. We offer a same-day, walk-in clinic for patients who are in pain or have worrisome symptoms. It’s all part of our commitment to provide the best patient care.”
Many factors contribute to accurate vein treatment and management: the training and experience of the vein specialist performing the procedure; the type of equipment used; and the quality assessment metrics each facility is required to measure.
Obtaining accreditation from the IAC means that St. Peter’s Vascular Associates has undergone an intensive application and review process and found to be compliant with the published IAC standards, thereby demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care in vein treatment and management.
“Our program has continuously demonstrated a commitment to quality patient care in vein treatment and management,” said Kellie Valenti, executive vice president of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates. “You would have to travel an hour or more from the Capital Region to find another accredited vein center. We offer the specialized treatments and surgeries patients need, performed by highly trained and compassionate providers, right here at home.”
