Millions of Americans are diagnosed with clinical severe obesity; making it the most common chronic disease in the United States today. Obesity can have a significant effect on quality of life, and for some individuals, weight loss surgery may be the solution to improve their health and overall well-being.
St. Peter’s Health Partners will hold a free educational seminar, titled “Weight Loss Surgery: Take the First Step.”
Free and open to the public, the program is intended for patients, their family members and loved ones, and others who are concerned about weight loss issues. The event will take place:
Thursday, February 28
6 to 7:30 p.m.
Hilton Garden Inn, 30 Clifton Country Rd.
The distinguished speaker will be: Samuel Hykin, M.D., a bariatric and general surgeon with Samaritan Hospital Bariatric and Metabolic Care, a practice of St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates.
Dr. Hykin will discuss aspects of weight loss surgery including who may be a candidate for surgery, how patients who choose weight loss surgery can lose up to 70 percent of excess weight, what types of surgical procedures are available, and the risks involved.
