Free Screening on May 24 Tests for Genetic Risk to Lung Disease

St. Peter’s Health Partners will hold a free screening to help answer the question: Are Your Genes Causing Your Breathing Problems?

The screening will take place:

Wednesday, May 24
6 to 7:30 p.m.
St. Peter’s Hospital Pulmonary Rehabilitation
400 Patroon Creek Blvd., Suite 102

Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (Alpha-1) is a hereditary condition, and a major genetic risk factor for serious lung disease, including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Join us for a free screening, as well as information on genetics and breathing problems. The screening includes a simple finger-stick
blood test to check for Alpha-1.

Screening is suggested for adults with:

• COPD regardless of smoking history
• Emphysema regardless of smoking history
• Irreversible asthma
• A family member with Alpha-1
