WTEN: AFib Differences with Dr. Alfonso Prieto

Alfonso Prieto, M.D., of Albany Associates in Cardiology, helped kick off American Heart Month on WTEN/News10, with a discussion about the most common type of heart arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, or AFib. AFib is caused by extremely fast and irregular beats from the upper chambers of the heart. If left untreated, AFib can lead to a higher risk of stroke.

Dr. Prieto discussed risk factors for AFib as well as the latest treatments for the condition, including a new device being used at St. Peter’s Hospital called Farapulse.
