Diana Christine with Community Hospice Named as HCA Caring Award Recipient

Congratulations to Diana Christine, RN, supervisor of Central Intake and Admissions for The Community Hospice, who has been named the recipient of the HCA (Health Care Association of New York State) “Caring Award.” The honor was presented at an HCA luncheon held at the Saratoga Hilton.

A nine-year team member, Diana has served in various staff and leadership roles, always demonstrating a caring and compassionate approach to individuals who are seriously ill or in the final stages of life. Cited for her “can-do” attitude, Diana is always willing to take the extra step, working tirelessly to break through any barriers that might deter a terminally ill patient’s admission to services. She is dedicated to her patients and works to establish a relationship of trust with patients, providers and staff.

Recently, Diana’s efforts on behalf of a homeless patient who had been passed over by other providers ultimately enabled the patient to pass comfortably in Hospice care. While not the only unsung hero, Diana’s compassion, courage and persistence in advocating for the patient from the very beginning was a critical part of a compassionate resolution to the case. Had she not cared so much or worked so hard to push for that final intervention, the patient may have met the literal end of the road alone and on the streets.

Diana is the advocate we would all want on our behalf to care for our critical needs and to mobilize resources if we were vulnerable and in need of help. Simply, she cares … greatly. Congratulations, Diana!
