In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to be humbled by the generosity of the Capital Region community. Residents and local businesses have been reaching out to help ensure our health care workers at St. Peter’s Health Partners (SPHP) have the necessary personal protective equipment, as well as food and respite care. Those donations continue to pour in. Among them, a donation of 30,000 KN95 masks from Momentive Performance Materials, based in Waterford, N.Y.

“We can’t express how grateful we are for the generous and thoughtful support of Momentive in our time of need,” said James K. Reed, M.D., president and CEO of SPHP.  “Their donation of KN95 masks has helped our PPE supply immensely over the past five weeks during this crisis.”

Dr. Reed, along with Mike Finegan, president of Acute Care for SPHP; Marc Tryon, director of safety and security for SPHP; Brian Boudreau, director of safety for St. Peter’s Hospital; and Peter Semenza, vice president of philanthropy for SPHP, met with representatives of Momentive on April 29 to formally thank them for their donation.

“Momentive has provided an invaluable lifeline of PPE to local hospitals like St. Peter’s, nursing homes, law enforcement offices and fire departments,” said Semenza. “We are all grateful for their response to our call for help. Our community is a better place because of their charitable efforts.”

The KN95 masks were distributed to St. Peter’s Hospital and The Eddy.

Anyone wishing to help is encouraged to make a contribution to the COVID-19 Fund at www.givetostpeters.org.
