Three SPHP Nurses Honored for Excellence at 2025 “Salute to Nurses”

Three St. Peter’s Health Partners (SPHP) nurses have been honored for nursing excellence at the 11th annual Times Union Salute to Nurses.

Presented by SPHP, the 2025 Times Union Salute to Nurses honors the profession of nursing and the outstanding women and men who represent the field throughout the Capital Region. Twenty-five local nurses – 10 winners and 15 finalists – were honored this year, all of whom were nominated by family, friends, coworkers, and others whose lives they have impacted with their work.

They were all celebrated at a luncheon at the Hearst Media Center on May 8. The nurses were also recognized with a special insert in the print edition of the Times Union on Sunday, May 11, which can be viewed HERE.

One SPHP nurse was named a “2025 Nurse of the Year”:

  • Katelyn N. Dwon, MS, FNP-BC
    Clinical Nurse Educator, Emergency Departments
    Albany Memorial and Samaritan Hospital
    SPHP Nurse Residency Program Coordinator

Additionally, two SPHP nurses were honored as “Nurse of the Year” finalists:

  • Lindsey Brenenstuhl, RN, PALS
Adult & Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury
    Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital

  • Jodie Broughton, RN
    Director of Nursing
    Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare

“There are many great reasons to celebrate National Nurses Week. But the very best reasons are the nurses right here, in this room, and your nursing colleagues that couldn’t be here with us today,” said Kim Baker, Senior VP of hospital operations for St. Peter’s Health Partners, in her remarks at the event. “What you and your peers bring to our hospitals, and to the health care industry in general, is nothing short of incredible. You make a real, lasting difference in people’s lives, every day.”
