Two St. Peter’s Hospital Nurses Honored for Nursing Excellence

The Professional Practice Council at St. Peter’s Health Partners is proud to recognize St. Peter’s Hospital nurses Briana Marotta, RN, and Amy Froehlich, RN, with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Briana Marotta, RN

Marotta is a Labor and Delivery nurse at St. Peter’s Hospital. A former patient nominated Marotta for the award, thanking her for providing highly personalized care during the birth of her first child. The patient was extremely grateful for Marotta’s commitment to following her birth plan despite some difficult circumstances.

“For each and every one of my wishes to have been expertly executed in that short amount a time requires a very deeply passionate person dedicated to their patient, who is highly skilled and willing to go above and beyond to advocate to all the providers and staff involved in my care,” wrote the patient.

Amy Froehlich, RN

Froehlich is a longtime employee of St. Peter’s Hospital where she works as an overnight charge nurse in the Emergency Department. She was nominated by a colleague who praised her for her leadership, creativity, and compassionate care.

“She never hides behind the charge desk, but is in the thick of things, solving problems, caring and advocating for patients, and being part of the solution,” said the colleague. “She has given of herself for years at St. Peter’s…yet, she still shows up and inspires us all, day after day. Every department should be lucky enough to have an Amy Froehlich.”

For more than 20 years, The DAISY Foundation has been recognizing the compassion and skill direct care nurses bring to their patients every day. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The family of Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), created The DAISY Award to honor his memory and recognize the healing work of the nurses who had cared for him and continue to care for patients everywhere.

The award has been adopted by more than 2,000 health care facilities across the United States and is a part of the culture at SPHP.

Congratulations to the winners and to all the nurse nominees!
