Occupational Therapy Team Provides Activity Bags for COVID Patients

On December 24, 2020, the St. Peter’s Health Partners occupational therapy team, in collaboration with the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation, delivered activity bags to COVID patients in isolation to provide holiday cheer and assist in their healing. One role of occupational therapists is to keep patients engaged with activities of daily living while they are in the hospital, including leisure activities. The team put together bags with activities such as fidget spinners, stress balls, puzzle books, and mini Rubik’s cubes to help with motor and cognitive skills. Comfort aids such as lip balm and emery boards were also included.

A team of physical therapists, information associates, nurses, and rehab aides worked to assemble and deliver the bags to the COVID positive units, with the first batch delivered in time for Christmas. Staff will continue to deliver bags to patients over the next few weeks.
