Business Review: How health care goes is how the regional economy goes

The Business Review recently reported on healthcare jobs in the region and how they are one of the prime economic drivers in the area.

From the article:

More than a quarter of all private-sector jobs in the Albany region are in health and education, according to state Department of Labor statistics for December 2021.

Even if you remove the jobs classified as education, that still comes out to be 67,000 jobs in health care, which remains larger than any other subset.

We asked physician groups if they were hiring, and while we gave them five options to choose from, they only selected two, and both were a resounding “yes.”

More than half, 56%, said they were looking for people to fill currently vacated positions — from the physician level on down — in their groups.
