Times Union: Albany Memorial, Samaritan Hospital Merger Goes Into Effect Wednesday

The Times Union has published an article on the merger of Albany Memorial and Samaritan hospitals.  The merger takes effect January 1, 2020.

From the article:

Albany Memorial Hospital’s 151-year history as a standalone operation will come to an end Wednesday, as it merges with Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

The merger was approved by the state Department of Health’s Public Health and Health Planning Council on Dec. 12 at the request of St. Peter’s Health Partners, which oversees both hospitals as well as two others in the Capital Region.

While the merger will have no impact on the care or services provided at each facility, it will result in a name change for Albany Memorial, which for legal reasons will now be known as Samaritan Hospital — Albany Memorial campus.
