NewsChannel 13: Doctor discusses importance of diabetes education

At Journey Through the Body, Dr. Jill Abelseth spoke with NewsChannel 13’s Benita Zahn about the diabetes epidemic. Dr. Abelseth said children as young as 4- and 5-years-old are being diagnosed with diabetes. LiveSmart: Journey Through the Body

Where can kids walk through a giant ear, see how smoking damages lungs and learn how to REALLY get their teeth as clean as possible to keep their healthy, precious smiles? Where else but at the area’s largest and most popular kid’s health education exhibit – Journey Through The Body – A Hands-on Discovery Adventure. Now celebrating its 16th year, Journey will be presented this Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18, at Colonie Center. As always, the event is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The event is co-sponsored by WNYT-TV NewsChannel 13. SPHP To Host Journey Through The Body on April 17-18

St. Peter’s Health Partners will host its 16th annual Journey Through The Body, a hands-on discovery adventure, on Friday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Colonie Center in Albany. This free, two-day family community health educational event is designed to educate children and their parents about select parts of the human body and to learn about their functions, components, strengths and limitations, and ways to lead an active healthy lifestyle. The presentations are coordinated by clinicians from St. Peter’s Health Partners. Clinicians will be available to guide children and their parents through the models and answer questions. The goal of the program is to develop and promote healthy habits in children.
