WTEN: St. Peter’s Nurses Light Candles for National Nurses Month, Coronavirus Solidarity

WTEN News10 was at the St. Peter’s Hospital campus on National Nurses Day (Wednesday, May 6) for a candle lighting ceremony where nurses and other staff passed a flame from colleague to colleague to “Be A Light” of hope for the Capital Region. The flame was then virtually passed to nurses and staff at Samaritan Hospital who were holding their candle-lighting ceremony simultaneously on that campus.

From the story:

As well as celebrating nursing month, the ceremony was also a sign of solidarity against the coronavirus. While maintaining proper social distancing and wearing masks, nurses and other staff passed a flame from colleague to colleague.

“COVID-19 has most certainly changed each and every one of us and the healthcare system of the world, and I’m confident that, in the end, it’s going to be for the better,” said Christopher Jordan, chief nursing officer for St. Peter’s Health Partners Acute Care.
