Third Annual “Trunk or Treat” Coming to Samaritan Hospital

Samaritan and St. Mary’s hospitals in Troy will hold their third annual “Trunk or Treat” event from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 27.

Taking place on the ground floor of the Samaritan Hospital parking garage (2215 Burdett Ave., Troy; entrance on Eagle St. between Burdett Ave. & 17th St.), the event offers a safe place for children to participate in trick-or-treating prior to other Halloween activities.

The event is organized by Samaritan and St. Mary’s Healthy Future, Healthy Troy campaign.

During Trunk or Treat, children will be able to walk around the parking garage and trick-or-treat from the decorated trunks of vehicles. Samaritan and St. Mary’s hospital staff, local community organizations, as well as local agencies such as fire and police departments, will be participating. A firetruck and a tank will be onsite providing candy. Hospital staff is donating candy and treats, and there will be healthy snacks and non-food items.

Trunk or Treat started in 2015, after the completion of the new $10 million parking garage at Samaritan Hospital. The event is free and open to children 13 years of age and under, who must be accompanied by an adult.

The Healthy Future, Healthy Troy campaign helps to showcase the work being done as part of St. Peter’s Health Partners’ $99 million Troy Master Facilities Plan, which aims to transform healthcare in Troy, Rensselaer County, and surrounding communities.

Volunteers are needed before, during, and after the event to help with set-up, logistics, and clean-up.
