Free “Watch Your Step” Seminar Discusses How to Prevent Falls

Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of unintentional injuries, hospital admissions for trauma, and even death.

St. Peter’s Health Partners will hold a free educational seminar, titled “Watch Your Step.” This program is open to the public, and will take place:

Wednesday, September 21
6 to 7:30 p.m.
Mercy Auditorium  – St. Peter’s Hospital Campus
310 S. Manning Blvd. (Across the street from the hospital)

The distinguished speakers will be:

  • Valerie Rivituso, BS, RN, CEN, CNE | Director of Nursing, Emergency and Critical Care Departments, Albany Memorial Hospital
  • Piyush Amin, Pharm D, BCPS | Clinical Pharmacy Manager, St. Mary’s, Samaritan, and Albany Memorial Hospitals
  • Samantha Schock, PT, DPT | Albany Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Services
  • Lara Habura, OT | Supervisor, Clifton Park Physical Rehabilitation

The speakers will discuss home safety tips, how medicine can affect balance, exercizes to improve strength, and information on recovering from a fall.
