St. Mary’s Sleep Lab in Troy Awarded Program Accreditation

St. Mary’s of Troy has been awarded program accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) for five years.

The AASM accreditation is the gold standard by which the medical community and the public can evaluate sleep medicine services. To achieve accreditation for a five-year period, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM, including staffing, facility and equipment; policies and procedures; data acquisition; patient care; and quality assurance.

The St. Mary’s Sleep Lab is a state-of-the-art clinic that provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for a range of sleep disorders, from insomnia and snoring, to restless legs syndrome and sleep apnea. Led by Shobharani C. Sundaram, M.D., the team includes physicians who are board-certified in sleep disorders, respiratory therapists who are trained in sleep diagnostics, and a psychologist who specializes in sleep disorders to help patients with their needs.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is a professional medical society and the national accrediting body for sleep disorders center. The AASM is dedicated to setting standards and promoting excellence in sleep medicine health care, education and research. For more information, please visit http://www.aasmnet.org.
