A dedication ceremony was held on February 25 for the Andrea Lewis Siek, R.N. Simulation Education Center at the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. The hands-on learning lab is named after a former registered nurse at Samaritan Hospital.

SPHP Distributes 12,000 Pounds of Food at Community Wellness Event
On February 18, St. Peter’s Health Partners, along with several community partners, gave away 12,000 pounds of fresh food to more than 230 individuals and families in Albany’s South End.

Girl Scouts Bring Smiles to Beverwyck Residents
On February 11, residents of the Beverwyck in Slingerlands were treated to a dance performance from a Delmar-based Girl Scouts Troop. The Daisy Scouts from Elsmere Elementary School danced to kid-friendly hits like “Baby Shark” and the “Macarena,” and even had some of the senior residents dancing along, too! Following their performance, residents presented the kindergarten and first grade girls with treats of their own–Valentine’s Day cupcakes! A fun time was had by all. The Beverwyck is part of Eddy Senior Living and St. Peter’s Health Partners. The full-service independent senior living community features 172 one- and two-bedroom apartments and 29 two-bedroom cottages situated on 80 acres in Slingerlands, just outside of Albany. Peter Semenza, vice president of philanthropy for St. Peter’s Health Partners (SPHP), appeared on WTEN to discuss SPHP’s involvement in the Sock Out Cancer program. The program raises money to help cancer patients with a wide variety of needs.

Business Review: Longtime Executive Leaving St. Peter’s Health Partners
The Albany Business Review published an article on the resignation of Elmer Streeter as Director of Corporate Communications for St. Peter’s Health Partners. Streeter has been with the organization for 21 years. His last day was February 7. From the article: During a career spanning four decades, Streeter has a played a key role in shaping the public messaging of not just St. Peter’s, but also Albany Medical Center, where he was associate director of public relations for 17 years. He was instrumental in developing new branding as both hospital systems grew and merged with other organizations. And he developed outreach efforts such as Albany Med’s popular Melodies of Christmas program. “I’ve been very, very fortunate to have two really big clients over the last 40 years,” he said Thursday after the Business Review’s “Future of Hospitals” Power Breakfast. “We’re lucky to have great facilities in this town and great health care in the region.” Streeter was honored as CMO of the year in the Business Review’s 2016 Achievers awards.
